Kyfanta Walking Holidays

Kyparissi, GreeceKyfanta Hotel offers a one-week walking holiday during March, April, May, June, September and October for €600 per person, including transport to Kiparissi, meals and accommodation.

The guided walks take you on the mountains paths around Kiparissi, an Aegean coastal village in Lakonia, southeast Peloponnese. This is a unique experience in one of Europe’s great wildernesses.

Kiparissi lies in a bay surrounded by mountains and high plains. The walks follow old paths established by former mountain dwellers. The scenery is spectacular, the wildflowers abundant.

KyparissiAccomodation is in the three-star Kyfanta Hotel, very close to the sea.

Esther Grau will be your hostess. Esther is from Catalonia and settled in Kiparissi more than 20 years ago after travelling in Asia and Europe.

Esther runs the Kyfanta hotel with her husband Iannis (left). Esther speaks Spanish, Catalan, Greek, English, Italian and French.

Eleni Tsigeleris will be your guide on the walks.Eleni speaks English fluently, after spending some years in San Fransisco

Eleni grew up in the Kiparissi mountains and has walked their paths most of her life. She is an expert on local history and flora.

The price of €600 is all inclusive, apart from airfares to Greece. The holiday runs from Saturday to Saturday.

Kyparissi Walking ToursTransport to Kiparissi

• A mini-bus will collect you from Athens airport and return you the following Saturday.

Accommodation

• You will stay in the Kyfanta Hotel. Kyfanta is a 3 star, 15-studio hotel. Most studios have sea views and every studio has a kitchen, A/C, television and wifi.

Food

• Breakfast at the Kyfanta Hotel

• Packed lunches

• Dinner at family-run tavernas. Good and plentiful local food with wine.

Walks

Kyparissi walking toursWe offer a mixed menu of walks

• Three or four long walks (five hours plus) in the mountains above Kiparissi and/or

• Three or four shorter walks (three hours maximum) in the lower hills around the village.

• There will be a donkey or mule on the long mountain walks.

If the weather is bad (which it almost never is) we will organize excursions to Monemvassia, other local villages or activities such as traditional Greek cooking.

Equipment is not included in the price(not that you really need any).

Kyparissi walking tours• We recommend you bring walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproof clothing, sun cream and a hat.

• We also recommend using Nordic walking sticks, as some sections of the mountain paths are steep and stony.

We are organizing these holidays because we enjoy walking in the beautiful Kiparissi mountains with exceptional scenery and wonderful opportunities to photograph the views and the flowers. We know you will enjoy it too.
