In the last few years there has been a huge increase in people using sites like Air BnB instead of hotels. Though there are good reasons for using peer-to-peer rentals, this practice has hurt a number of people. It has harmed not only the major hotels, but it has caused many small family run hotels to struggle and in many cases go out of business. It has caused an increase in the price of apartment rentals in Athens at a time when they should be cheap as entire neighborhoods which would normally be filling up with artists, musicians and young people are becoming seasonal tourist neighborhoods full of Air BnB apartments. It has also introduced a new form of entrepreneurship as people wth money buy up apartments to put on Air BnB. However you can't argue with the fact that for many people traveling Air BnB is the way to go and now that it is out it will be difficult to put the genie back in the bottle. And despite the problems it has caused, the truth is that Air BnB has helped many people get by in a very difficult period for the Greek economy. There is a lot of information on my website and it is all free to anyone whether you booked through the travel agents, the hotels or Air BnB. But it is the commissions I get from hotel bookings on my affiliate website with Booking.com that supports this website and enable me to continue doing the work I enjoy. So my request to you is that if you are using Air BnB and using my websites and are thankful for the information you have received from it please think about donating whatever you can afford so I can continue to update and add to my websites. If you are appreciative of all the free information you get on my websites you can send a donation through Paypal Thank you and wherever you stay I hope you have a wonderful time in Greece and as with anyone I am available to answer questions by e-mail. |
