Crete is the largest and the most important of the Greek Islands. Almost a country in itself, to really get to know Crete you need at least a week, make that a month, or a lifetime. A long and rich history and countless ancient and medieval sites, fantastic beaches, high mountains, rich agricultural valleys and some of the best food in Greece make Crete a stand alone island with as much to see as all the other islands combined. First read my Introduction to Crete and then you can read A Quick Tour of Crete which is an updated version of my original Crete pages. I suggest going to Chania and focusing on those pages because that is my favorite part of Crete. There are hundreds of pages of information, photos, restaurant reviews and explorations of the island. If you need assistance with your itinerary try my Create-an-itinerary page. |
