There are a lot of beautiful beaches in Halkidiki. Maybe more than anywhere in Greece. Definitely more than I could fit on any one page but I tried my best. These are some of the best beaches in Halkidiki. If I left off your favorite beach please let me know. Or maybe thank me. I have included recommended nearby hotels for most of the beaches, the ones that had nearby hotels. You can also see my Halkidiki Hotels page or Search Hotels in Halkidiki. You will want to rent a car if you plan to see a lot of beaches but there is KTEL bus service from the larger towns to the more popular beaches and stops for some lesser known beaches as well. Thank you to DepositPhotos.com for pictures way better than I could ever take.

Nea Potidea
This town of summer houses, shops, restaurants, bars and cafes in Kassandra begins at the canal built by the Romans and is the site of the ancient city of Potidea. The main beach is on the east side and gets very crowded in the summer but on the west side there are narrow beaches on the more rocky coast though unless you are staying in town you will probably be swimming elsewhere. The beachfront Pomegranite Wellness Resort is just north of town. There are also some holiday homes for rent in town though I imagine most of them are rented by the same people every year, when they are not being used by the owners.
|
Afytos
Located on the east side of the Kassandra Peninsula, Afytos is a sandy beach with some stones in the sea. There are sea urchins too so water shoes are adviseable. It is in a well developed area with hotels, summer homes, restaurants and beach beds and umbrellas for rent. The Blue Bay Halkidiki overlooks the beach.
|
Kalithea
This long sandy beach with pine trees and clear turquoise seas is near a well developed tourist town of hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes on Kassandra. Great for families with kids and for that reason it gets really crowded in the summer. There are beach beds and umbrellas and if you get there early you can find somewhere to put your own. Lots of bars and restaurants on this be ach which is considered one of the most beautiful and most popular in Halkidiki.
There are some nice hotels as well as apartments and summer houses but finding availability in the summer may be a challenge. Try starting with the Ellin Hotel or Margaritta Seaside Hotel or Aegean Melathron Spa Hotel which
are all big enough to absorb the number of tourists who come here in the summer and if they are full see what Bookingdotcom suggests nearby in the way of smaller, less known hotels and holiday rentals.
|
Kriopigi Beach
This beach on the east coast of Cassandra has a mix of sand and pebbles on several small beaches, a cafe-bar, pine trees and lots of room to spread out, at least when it is not July or August. There are a couple nearby restaurants and places to stay if you book early including the wonderful Mirabilia Boutique Hotel and the Avatel
Eco Lodge.
|
Sani Beach
Located in the northwestern side of Cassandra this beach is in a busy seaside resort area with hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and a summer arts and music festival. There are several well known resorts here including Sani Beach, Sani Club, and Porto Sani which all get very good reviews for large resorts. Don't be fooled by the photo. This beach, or series of beaches seperated by a marina, is very long and in the summer full of people.
|
Aigiopelagitika
Midway down the Kassandra Peninsula on the west coast with umbrellas and sunbeds and large areas where you can bring your own. Lots of hotels and rooms and other places to stay and a few fancy beach bars with food.
|
Glarokavos
This beach is located towards the bottom of Kassandra on the east coast. There are beach beds and umbrellas but it is mostly non organized. Like almost every nice beach in Halkidiki it can get crowded in the summer. There is a waterpark nearby if you or your kids are into that sort of thing.
|
Pefkohori
Another beautiful beach on the southeastern part of Kassandra in a well developed tourist area meaning there are beach beds and umbrellas for rent, watersports and lots of familes with children. Bars, restaurants, cafes, nightlife and everything you would want for a 2 week holiday and there are lots of hotels, apartments and holiday homes. The highly rated Agnes Hotel
is a one minute walk from the beach as are the Blue Carpet Luxury Suites.
|
Posidi Beach
This is actually 2 beaches on a cape jutting out on the west side of Cassandra with one facing northwest and the other southeast. If it is windy and wavy on one it will usually be calm on the other. Or it may be calm on both or windy and wavy on both. Regardless it is considered one of the nicest natural beaches meaning there are few, if any amenities. Bring water and an umbrella. There are a couple campgrounds and a mini-market nearby but that
is about it. Hotel Maria is a few minutes walk from Posidi East Beach.
Posidi West is a long pebble beach just north of Cape Possidi with watersports, beach volleyball, cafes, restaurants, hotels and summer homes and one of the best beaches for watching the sunset. It is not shallow but there are still loads of familes here in the summer. If you want to stay here try Sunset Villas.
|
Paliouri Beach
One of several beaches in a large bay towards the bottom of Kassandra facing east in the area known as Chrossou, Paliouri has watersports, beachbeds and umbrellas, a couple cafes, camping and places to stay. The town has a Folklore Museum that explores Macedonian myth and history and there are hiking trails, sailing and scuba diving and lots of nightlife.
|
Kastri Beach
Just south of Nikiti this double beach has no bars, no beach beds and no toilets but it's a good place to go if you want to get away, especially the northern beach. Great for snorkeling and there is a mix of families and couples, many from the neighboring homes and villas. It is not easy to find. It is one of those places if you know you know and if you don't know you go somewhere else where you can park within site of the beach and not worry that you are walking
through someone's yard. If you stay at Kastri Elia Suites it will be your neighborhood beach and that won't be a problem.
|
Siviri Beach
Located south of Nikiti in Sithoni this popular family beach is in a small town with restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels and holiday homes. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available and there are lots of restaurants on the beach. It can get very crowded here in the summer so come early if you want to enjoy the beach before the kids get there or come in the off season. The Hotel
Argo is quiet, clean and in the center of everything.
|

Course sand beach south of Nikiti with pine trees, a beach bar and several large and small hotels nearby including the Acrotel Elia Beach.

|
Robinson Beach
This beautiful sandy beach surrounded by pine forests can be reached only by excursion or private boat which means you masy have it to yourself (unlikely) or lots of company. It is not unknown to locals and can be more busy in the summer than your normal every day idylic remote beach. The boat goes from the small fishing village of Ormos Panagias, or Sarti so ask there.
|
Armenistis
This family friendly beach on the east side of Sithonia has watersports and a popular campground and you have to pay 4 euros to go through the camping to get to the sea. There is a way to avoid this if you follow the path by the Free Entrance sign. Like most beaches this gets crowded in the summer but there is less parking than others so you may have to park on the road and do some walking. But it is one of the nicest beaches in Halkidiki
and one of the most fun (though when I was there it was empty). And the paying to go through the camping is kind of weird. Armenistis Camping & Bungalows features a private beach area, a beachfront bar and a restaurant, a mini
market, a basketball and a soccer court and watersport facilities.
|
Azapiko
Azapiko Beach is about halfway down on the west coast of the Sithoni Peninsula near the town of Neos Marmaras. |
Agia Kyriaki

|
Kavourotripes
This small beach on the southeast part of Sithonia just north of Sarti has pine trees that go to the sea and a beach bar that some complain that it is too loud. Anyway come here in the off season because during the summer you probably won't even find a spot to put your towel unless you come very early and even then who wants to be packed like sardines on the beach listening to loud music? But if you come in May or late September and bring your mask and snorkel you
should be quite happy here.
|
Megaportokali Beach (Big Orange Beach)
This beach is just on the other side of the ridge from Kavourotripes. There is a small cafe with no sunbeds but they do have free umbrellas. The sand area is kind of small and if you don't get there early you may not find a spot during the summer. But like the other nearby beaches if you come ion the offseason you will probably think it is the most beautful beach you have ever seen. Bring a mask, snorkel and flippers if you have them.
|
Kriaritsi
Kriaritsi is a collection of several sandy beaches in a large bay in the southeastern part of Sithoni.between Sikia and Kalamitsi and is considered one of the best beaches in Halkidiki. There are a couple beach bars and campsites, and a taverna on the nearby beach of Klimataria. Great for windsurfing though it is often calm. Getting here is tricky and you will need a car. Great view of Mount Athos too.
|
Fava Beach
Located in the northeast part of Sithonia this sandy beach has no beach beds and umbrellas or toilets but it is popular with many people who stay in the nearby town of Vouvoura during the summer.
|
Karidi
Karidi is a long sandy beach in a large cove on the east side of Sithonia near Vourvourou. The sea is shallow and good for families with small children and also for snorkeling with interesting rocks similar to Kolimbothres in Paros. You probably need to bring your own umbrellas and beach chairs and come early in the summer because it gets crowded. If you want to stay in the area the Maria
Hotel in Vourvourou is recommended but most of the accomodations are summer homes and apartments like the Simon Prince Prive.
|
Diaporos Island
Diaporos Island is an island of about one and a half square miles near the town of Vourvourou on the Sithoni peninsula. There are private holiday homes on the island but many people come over from the mainland to enjoy the beaches usually wirth their own boat but you can get there from a private excursion boat from Vourvourou too.
|
Sarti
This long beach in the southeastern part of Sithonia is in a town full of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and nightlife. Cooler in the summer than many of the sheltered beaches to the north the area gets some wind and some waves which are actually quite welcome in August. If you don't like wind and waves you can walk or drive to the sheltered beach of Achiada just north of the town. There are lots of bars and restaurants on the beach and many you can get a beach
bed and umbrellas just for perchasing a drink. Callisti Suites is right on the beach and Das Mastraili is on a hill overlooking the town and the sea and a 5 minute walk to the beach.
|
Kalamitsi Beach
This popular sandy beach is located south of the town of Sarti near the bottom of the Sithoni Peninsula. |
Toroni Beach
This long sandy village beach in southwest Sithonia has a Byzantine castle, restaurants, beach beds and umbrellas, It has a playground and there are lots of children here. Part of the beach has a deep drop which makes it less than ideal for very small children but that does not keep them from coming.
|
Ammouliani Island (Karagitsia Beach)
Karagitsia is one of several very nice beaches on the small island of Ammoulianni. This beach has a beach bar with cocktails and free sunbeds if you order one. Good food too and one of the best beaches on the island. No toilets so plan accordingly. There are several other beaches on Ammouliani and a village with hotels, restaurants and shops. There is a car ferry from the town of Tripiti that takes about 15 minutes and goes every half an hour. Other beaches
on the island include Alikes, Megali Ammos, Agios Giorgos and Kalopigado and can be reached by car or on foot. People who are in Halkidiki but want to visit an island should consider Ammouliani. If you plan to stay overnight try the highly rated Trinity Hotel or the Sunrise Hotel or one of the many rooms
and apartments nearby like Kastalia or Villa Chara.
|
Ouranoupoli
Considering this is the last place you can go in Halkidiki before you hit Mount Athos, which is to Greece as The Vatican is to Rome, that is, sort of a separate country, there is a lot happening in Ouranoupoli. There are restaurants and cafes and bars and hotels and a couple beautiful beaches. You can catch the boat to Mount Athos if you have permission and you are a guy or do a cruise around it if you don't and you are not. Recommended hotels include the Hotel Filoxenia, right on the sea, Agia Marina Suites and the economical and hospitable Pension Stelios.
