Full day Kimolos Experience Land Tour

Private tour starts from the capital of Kimolos, the traditional village Chorio, and head to the Folklore and Maritime Museum of Kimolos which is housed in a restored mansion inside the walls of the Venetian Castle. This museum exhibits the personal collection of local doctor Manolis Christoulakis and donations of other residents. It aims to preserve the traditions and folk identity of the island. You will see daily objects from the 18th and the 19th centuries, textiles made of local women some decades ago, agricultural tools, cooking items and many nautical items.

Next stop is the Archaeological Museum of Kimolos which is found in Chorio village and exhibits ancient remains that were found in the beach of Ellinika, which is the most known archaeological site on Kimolos. In this museum, you will find pots, relics, funerary gifts and other objects that date from the 8th and the 7th century B.C.

Right after, explore the traditional village of Klima and see the colorful syrmata boat houses which decorate the shoreline next to the light green sea. Visit the folklore and archaeological museum in Plaka, the capital of the island. Learn about the history and the traditional life of then islanders before taking a stroll through the villages narrow streets. Make a short stop in Mandrakia, a scenic fisherman’s village with 2 little docks home to more colorful syrmata.

Churches, monasteries and picturesque chapels that preserve their simple beauty with all humility have been sown all over the island of Kimolos. The most impressive religious site is the cathedral, the church of Panagia Odigitria dedicated to the Virgin, the patron saint of Kimolos. The locals built this church between 1867 and 1874 where a religious feast takes place every year, on November 21st.

Next stop is located on the northeastern part of the island, Kimolos Prasa beach (or else known as Agios Georgios beach) is one of the most picturesque places to be. It is within short distance from both the main town of Kimolos and its major port. Perhaps the most characteristic detail about this beach is the distinctive chalk-like sand. This is in fact what has named the island (Kimolos derives from Kimolia, which is Chalk in Greek). And this very fine sand results in an almost all-white coastline, inviting you to dive in and swim in its transparent waters. Right opposite the sandy shore, there is the tiny islet of Prasonisi and the view is spectacular.

Final stop is Psathi, the port оf Kimolоs islаnd, located on thе sоutheastern coast. Psathi hаs a few tavеrnаs and cafes right on the piеr аnd the small beaсh nеxt tо it.
